he

he
pronoun (used as subject of a verb)
1 used to talk about a male person or animal that has already been mentioned or is already known about: “Where's Paul?” “He's gone to the cinema.” | Be careful of that dog. He sometimes bites.
2 used to talk about anyone, everyone, or an unknown person who may be either male or female: Everyone should do what he considers best.
3 He used when writing about God
USAGE NOTE: HE POLITENESS Some people, especially women, do not like the use of he to include both men and women in a sentence like: Everyone should do what he thinks best. Instead they use he or she, she or he, or they: Everyone should do what they think best. In writing he/she is often used, or simply s/he. Often you can write what you want to say in a different way in order to avoid the problem. For example say: People should all do what they think best.
